A Trousseau fit for a Queen Anne........................

Sometime soon, I hope, there will be a large wooden Queen Anne doll available that will be so excited to wear all of these pieces that I have made for her......plus some more.  I have been working on this trousseau for quite some time now and I also found the perfect antique wooden box to display all the clothing and eventually the doll in as well.
I thought it was time that I share with you some of the things I have been making here in preparation of a 24-25" fully jointed wooden Queen Anne doll being finished.  She will have glass eyes and be of the era of about 1725.
We are getting out lives back in order here after the massive fire that we suffered in November and soon I can be working on wooden dolls again........
I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I have enjoyed all the tedious work that has gone into reproducing these pieces.
Note the matching hand quilted petticoat, corset and pair of pockets.....Love, love, love them!
And the shoes.........it is all about the accessories as you know!
Everything you see here is all hand stitched and made by me from fabulous antique fabrics that I have been waiting to use on a very special doll.
If you would like more photos, or have questions, just email me:  toysintheattic@sympatico.ca
Enjoy!

I must share with you this little 9" English Queen Anne Wooden Doll that I have just finished.
She is so petite and delicate.  Her gown is hand stitched and made from a wonderful early piece of antique cotton that I had here tucked away.
This is the smallest of this type of doll that I have made.  She is darling and so much nicer than the photos.  To me she looks like a young girl of about 12-14 years old.
Enjoy!
She is now SOLD. If you have questions or would like more photos just email me: toysintheattic@sympatico.ca

This lovely young lady is all finished and looking for a home.  Her name is Millie.  Her patina is really wonderful in person.  She is fully jointed and hand carved from basswood, just as the old ones like her from the late 1700's were.  She has delicate carved forked hands as well.  Her eyes are antique glass black pupiless eyes.
She is 17" tall and wearing her totally hand stitched underpinnings.  She has a fabulous hand quilted petticoat with matching hand stitched corset and pocket to match as well.  All clothing is removable  and hand made by me from some wonderful early antique fine linen.
She has tiny silk shoes as well.  If you like to sew, you could make her a whole wardrobe but I love her in just her undies!
She is finished and available.  If you have questions or would like more photos just email me:  toysintheattic@sympatico.ca

I hope you love her!!

Meet Lady Grace.  She is 23 1/2" tall and fully jointed.  I have missed making these very large dolls and she is my first one since our devastating fire here last fall.  I LOVE making these big dolls.
Lady Grace is the sister doll to one that I am working that will be sold with the trousseau that I shared with you a few weeks ago.  Scroll down to see that if you like.
Lady Grace is hand carved just as the early Queen Anne dolls from the mid 1700's were.  She has a great profile and I have put several photos on here for you to see.  Her patina is wonderful and she has antique glass eyes.  She is so much nicer in person than in these photos.  Her clothing is all hand made from early antique linen and they are all removable............just in case you would like to make her a wardrobe.  Note her delicate hands and sweet little silk shoes.  She sits well or can stand with a doll stand placed up under her very full skirt.  She also has a flat hat that I forgot to put on her when I took these photos.  If you would like more photos or have questions just email me.  toysintheattic@sympatico.ca
Lady Grace is AVAILABLE.

Meet George, 21" Hand Carved Wooden Doll..............AVAILABLE

George is 21" tall and fully dressed in clothing that I made from antique fabrics.  His clothing is not removable as I have stitched it on to keep it all in place on him.  He is so charming in person. He is fully jointed and sits well too.  He is hand carved from Basswood.  Black dolls are so hard to photograph so I assure you his patina and detail to his face is so much nicer in person.  He has antique black glass eyes.
George looks like he might have been a worker at the Palace!  Perhaps he drove a carriage or kept the grounds or was a helper to the prince.
I have really enjoyed making him and watching him come to life.  This is the first male doll that I have ever made and he really has a presence about him.
If you would like more photos or have questions just let me know:  toysintheattic@sympatico.ca
George is AVAILABLE.

She is another treasure I will cherish and thank you for being the great person that you are !

17" Mae is fully jointed and all hand carved from Basswood.  She has Antique black glass eyes and wonderful patina.  Her face and body have a light flesh tone.  She is fully dressed in very early fabrics right down to her silk shoes.  The colour of her dress is a very faded Madder colour and not nearly as bright as it looks in these photos.  I have posted quite a few photos of her so you can see all the very simple detail to this doll.  She is even nicer in person.

I just have to share some photos of this little Prudence Queen Anne doll.  I was inspired by some photos of an old Queen Anne doll that I love.  She is a bit fierce looking but in a gentle way.  Small but mighty!  She has beautiful detailed hands  and is totally hand carved by me.  She is dressed in amazing early embroidered silks and wonderful old metallic trim with natural patina.  Every stitch on her cap is hand done and such tiny stitches they are.
Follow her progress............................
I will post more photos later.

29" Constance, a HUGE hand carved Queen Anne Doll....................AVAILABLE

$

For a number of years I have wanted to make a really huge Queen Anne doll.  Well, this is about as big as they get!  Constance is 29" tall with her hat on.  She is really a huge doll with such presence. Her head is about the size of a small grapefruit.  That should give you the idea of her size (without me having to but the Coke can in the photo! LOL)
She is dressed in Silk and her petticoat, which is very full and simple but wonderful, is made from some early whites from the UK.  Of course she has silk shoes, which I love to make.  She has lead strings as well that match her silk gown.
Her eyes are antique black glass pupiless eyes and her patina is so much more wonderful than you are seeing in these photos.
What a job she has been.  When I set out to make a "big" doll I had no idea the work it would be.  I hope you enjoy seeing her.  If you have any questions just let me know: toysintheattic@sympatico.ca
Constance is AVAILABLE.

This is Kathryn Higgs.  She is a William Higgs type doll that is fully jointed and hand carved.  Kathryn is a swivel head Higgs.  I love this look and she has a real personality!  I am still working on her but thought I would share some photos of her head and her body.   I am so pleased with this doll.  She will be 15 1/2" tall when finished.   She truly looks like she was found in an attic!
I have been saving a wonderful piece of 1700's linen with small scale wool crewel work all over it for a special early doll.  Kathryn Higgs is now wearing it!  This is an amazing doll and I just can't wait to show you more of her.  Hopefully she will be all finished by tonight and then you can see her too.
She is available.  If you would like advanced photos of her so far just let me know.

Martha Higgs, 13" Hand Carved Wooden Doll Circa 1680.............AVAILABLE

I am so pleased so show you Martha Higgs.  She is 13" tall and has a swivel head.  She is fully jointed and has wonderful little hands.  The patina on this doll is really wonderful but I am not so sure it will show as well in these quick photos.  I am putting some photos of her on here tonight so you can see her.  It is a bit late for taking photos in here tonight so if you would like more photos just email me and I can take some more in the morning.  This will be the last doll I am making before Christmas............time to do some baking!
Martha is dressed in some very drab early madder coloured cotton that looks bright in these photos but it is not.  She has a tiny hand stitched chemise, wonderful fine wool skirt and her long jacket, which took me hours to make and fit to her.  She has tiny hand stitched madder shoes as well.  Her body is really wonderful and was almost too nice to cover up!  She has several worn patches on her face, typical of this time period.  Because of all the disease and health issues of the time it became fashionable to cover the blemishes with patches.
I hope you enjoy the photos.
Martha Higgs is AVAILABLE.
If you have questions or would like more photos just email me:  toysintheattic@sympatico.ca
I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas.

Baby Liz is 9" long plus her long gown.  She is jointed at the hips and has linen upper arms and beautifully carved little fingers.  Liz has antique glass eyes and really wonderful patina which I hope you can see in these photos.  She sits well.  Her gown is made from antique Ayrshire cotton lace that came from the UK.  Her little bonnet is darling too.
She is just the right size for the some of the larger ladies that I have made to hold on their lap.  She also looks wonderful in a small antique cradle on her own.
Enjoy.
